Welcome to LaCasse Bats
All LaCasse bats are made of solid ash, birch, or maple and are hand turned by me (Jesse LaCasse). I select and usually cut all my own trees and then I cut them into 40 inch bolts. I then have my bolts sawn into 3x3 inch billets by a local sawyer who has been experimenting for 7 years to find the best method of getting the most billets out of each log while staying away from the center. All my wood is then kiln dried to 8% moisture content in our own homemade kiln. After drying I turn every bat one at a time by hand, I understand that a hand turned bat is not superior to turning a bat on a automatic lathe, but i can make sure every bat is balanced because every piece of wood is different and sometimes the model has to be altered to achieve perfect balance and weight . After the bat is turned and sanded the official LaCasse Bats logo is branded into the bat.
